Chatan Model Courses
If you would rather not plan from scratch, start from one of these. Each is built around how the area actually works: nearly everyone arrives by car, the midday sun is strong, and the sunset is the thing worth planning around.
-
Sunset Half-Day Course
Park once in the afternoon, browse Depot Island, take an ocean-view cafe seat, then watch the sun go down.
-
One Day in Chatan
Outdoors early and late, indoors through the hot middle of the day. Morning beach to a lit-up night.
-
Depot Island Cafe Hop
Three ocean-view cafes within a one-to-two minute walk. Also one of the better rainy-day plans here.
Planning notes
- Look up the sunset time first. It moves a lot by season — roughly 19:30 in summer and around 18:00 in winter. See the sunset guide.
- Sort out parking before you arrive. There is no train to Chatan, and the seaside lots fill first. See the parking guide and the access guide.
- Have a wet-weather fallback. The cafe hop and the indoor midday block both hold up in rain.
