Depot Island Cafe Hop

The seaside edge of Depot Island has three ocean-view cafes within a one-to-two minute walk of each other. You can happily spend all day in one — but splitting your time across a few lets you watch the same water change from morning to sunset.

Tip: sea-facing seats are the popular ones everywhere here. If you have a particular time of day in mind, arrive early or reserve. Two cafes is plenty for most people — you do not need to do all three.

1. THE CALIF KITCHEN OKINAWA — morning

Open 8:00–22:00 (L.O. 21:30), with a morning menu 8:00–11:11 and lunch 11:00–14:00. The terrace looks straight out to the horizon, which makes it the easiest place to start the day — and one of the few here that also works for sunset.

2. ZHYVAGO COFFEE WORKS OKINAWA — for coffee

Open 8:00–20:00. A single-origin coffee shop with a reputation for the combination of a good cup and the sun going down over the horizon. The most coffee-focused stop of the three.

3. Seaside Cafe Hanon — pancakes by the water

Close enough to the water to hear it. Known for pancakes with an ocean view. Hours differ by day: 9:00–17:30 (L.O. 16:30) on weekdays, 8:30–19:00 (L.O. 18:00) on weekends, and they shift seasonally — worth checking before you go.

Practical notes

• This works in the rain. All three have indoor seating and are one to two minutes apart, which makes this one of the better wet-weather plans in the area.
• For sunset, arrive about an hour early. There are only so many terrace seats facing west — see the sunset guide.
